Updated: August 21, 2010, 3:11 AM
A 133-year-old rainfall record was broken Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
In all, 1.26 inches of rain was recorded at Buffalo Niagara International Airport as of 4:45 p. m., eclipsing the previous mark of 1.24 inches that was set Nov. 19, 1876.
Showers continued Thursday evening, with up to another quarter-inch of rain possible, forecasters said.
Showers also were likely early today, with mostly cloudy conditions expected to prevail for the balance of the day with temperatures about 50 degrees.
The weekend looks promising, with sunny skies forecasted Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will peak in the low 50s.
