Two teenagers and a juvenile are facing charges in the break-in and theft of six guns from a Milestrip Road home at about 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, Brant police said.

Kenny Matteson, 17, of Angola, and Nicholas Degolier, 16, of Brant, were each charged with burglary, petit larceny, grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal mischief.

The juvenile, of Brant, was petitioned to Family Court.

Five of the six guns were recovered after Brant police pieced the case together, interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence.

Summoned to the Milestrip Road home, police learned the grandson of the owner of the home and two of his friends were suspected in the break-in. Investigator Jack Giacchino and part-time officers John Lopez and Mark Slawek, who are also full-time Buffalo police officers, tracked down the suspects and recovered two rifles, two shotguns and a handgun, all stashed outside of the house, police said.

A sixth weapon, a handgun, was believed to have been traded for drugs in Niagara Falls on Wednesday, authorities said.

Brant Supervisor Leonard Pero praised the officers for their work.

“I can’t say enough about how proud I am of them and how hard they work,” Pero said. “They went out and they investigated the case, recovered the weapons and made the arrests.”

Degolier and Matteson, currently in the Erie County Holding Center, face a Nov. 18 appearance in Town Court.
