Busy Cheektowaga intersection lacks lane markings
Updated: August 21, 2010, 2:26 AM
Missing lane markings at a busy Cheektowaga intersection have at least one Fix It reader looking for direction.
"The paint markings are invisible, so you do not know where you are," Michael
J. Behun said in an e-mail to The Buffalo News.
At issue is the area where Dick Road becomes Cayuga Road, just past Genesee Street.
About 100 feet of Cayuga is "very bumpy," and lane markings are not visible, Behun said. Because of the missing striping, drivers often find themselves in the wrong lane as they pass the entrance to the Kensington Expressway.
"Drivers coming from the Dick Road side going straight to Cayuga do not know which lane to be in," he said, and often inadvertently block the entrance to the expressway.
Fix It contacted Erie County Public Works Commissioner Gerard J. Sentz about the problem.
"This section of roadway is scheduled to be completed this year, depending on the weather," he said.
Erie County is not the only municipality involved in the project, however.
"We are working closely with the New York State Department of Transportation, because of the proximity of the Route 33 entrance ramp and Genesee Street," he said.
