ELLICOTTVILLE – After members of the Southern Tier Regional Task Force saw a transaction, members of the region’s drug task force arrested a believed distributor in Cattaraugus County.

The investigation, conducted by the task force, resulted in the arrest of Amanda J. Calkins, 25, of Little Valley, on a charge of Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony.

A traffic stop in the Town of Ellicottville, as a result of the transaction allegedly witnessed by task force members, uncovered several Hydrocodone pills from the defendant. Detectives allege they learned that Calkins was supplying several individuals in the Salamanca area with the controlled substance.

She was arraigned in the Town of Ellicottville Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus Ocunty Jail in lieu of $750 bail. The investigation is ongoing.

The Southern Tier Regional Task Force was assisted by the Ellicottville Police Department and the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
