The 7-Eleven store on Ward Road in Wheatfield was robbed early this morning by a lone man who threatened to use a gun, Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies reported.

The clerk at the store at 6955 Ward Road called deputies at about 2:30 a.m. and reported the robber had his hand in his sweatshirt pocket and threatened the use of a firearm, but did not display a weapon. The suspect demanded cash and the clerk said he handed over $50 from the register. The clerk said the man told him not to move for 30 seconds or he would kill him.

The thief – a white male, 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9, approximately 175 pounds – wore a blue hooded sweatshirt and gray sneakers. He fled on foot, south on Ward Road. A Niagara County K-9 unit was brought to the scene in an effort to track the robber.
