For the second year in a row, the West Side of Buffalo will feel like Burma for a day.

The second annual Burmese Water Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday on Grant Street, between West Ferry and Hampshire Streets.

Burmese foods, dress, music and dancing will take over the West Side. In addition, the festival includes traditional water-related “blessings,” which include sprinkling – and sometimes even dousing – water onto those being blessed.

Last year, Burmese children even used hoses and squirt guns to douse each other with water.

The NFTA announced that Grant Street will be closed between West Ferry and Hampshire Streets between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and buses will be rerouted accordingly.
