If you’re headed out to the Taste of Buffalo today, bring a poncho – and that’s not just for covering up your expanding belly.
It’s been pouring downtown today – the second day of the beloved food festival.
But the festival will go on.
“The restaurants are still serving,” said Laura Jacobs, spokeswoman for Taste of Buffalo.
She said there hasn’t been any lightning in the area, nor have there been any issues with electrical equipment that could cause safety concerns, she said.
The festival was scheduled to continue through 7 p.m. tonight.
A long line of showers and thunderstorms is crossing over the area with “very heavy rain,” according to Aaron Reynolds, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Buffalo.
The rain should taper off by about 2 p.m. or so but there could be more showers the rest of the afternoon.
“Just bring an umbrella or a rain coat,” he advised. “Just be prepared.
The Buffalo Bisons rescheduled their game against Durham Bulls due to the rain. The game will be made up during the Herd’s trip to Durham Bulls Athletic Park, August 7-10, said spokesman Brad Bisbing.
Earlier, the Budding Tree Yoga Festival scheduled to be held today at Canalside was called off due to concerns about the weather. It has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 14th.
While it may be wet, at least it’s not cold. Highs are expected to be in the upper 70s or around 80 today. Overnight, the temperatures are expected to dip into the low to mid 60s.
