Civil rights and peace activist Diane Nash will join historian and former U.S. Civil Rights Commissioner Mary Frances Berry in the 38th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration event next Wednesday as part of the University at Buffalo’s Distinguished Speaker Series.

Nash, a leader of the student sit-ins in Nashville, Tenn., in 1960 and a founder of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee, will replace Myrlie Evers-Williams, who is unable to attend because of a scheduling conflict, a UB spokeswoman said.

Nash and Berry will speak at 8 p.m. in the Mainstage Theater in the Center for the Arts on the UB North Campus in Amherst. A limited number of tickets are still available.
