Two men were charged with driving while intoxicated over the weekend after one rear-ended another car after Saturday’s Bills game and the other drove his car into a ditch, the Erie County Sheriff’s office reports.
Joshua P. Collins, 24, of Lockport, was returning home from the preseason football game at Ralph Wilson Stadium when he rear-ended a car that was stopped on Transit Road in Clarence, waiting to turn, around 9 p.m., the sheriff reported. Collins was transported to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries and refused to submit to a chemical test. He was charged with DWI and other vehicle and traffic law violations and was released on appearance tickets for Clarence Court.
At around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, a deputy responding to a report of a car in a ditch on Townline Road arrested Joshua M. Schmidt, 30, of Alden, on charges of DWI, imprudent speed and failing to maintain the lane of traffic. Schmidt’s blood alcohol level was 0.17 percent, more than twice the legal limit, the sheriff reported. After processing at the Sheriff’s Office Clarence Substation, Schmidt was released on appearance tickets for Town of Alden Court.
