A recent decision to close two schools within village limits is the focus of this week’s meeting of the Kenmore Village Improvement Society.

Earlier this month, the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School Board voted in favor of a district-wide consolidation plan that will, among other things, close Roosevelt Elementary School on Washington Avenue and convert Kenmore Middle School, on Delaware Road, into offices and facilities for special programs.

The civic group has called the public meeting to talk about that decision and to brainstorm about the future use of the buildings.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Monday in Kenmore Community Center, 135 Wilber Ave.

Also this week:

• The Kenmore Village Board meets at 8 p.m Tuesday in Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave. A work session begins at 6:30 in the mayor’s office.

• A meeting of the town’s Safety Committee begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Conference Room 101 at police headquarters, 1835 Sheridan Drive.
