Town of Tonawanda

After battling heart disease for 22 years, Town of Tonawanda native Paulette Welker was admitted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester last year. She had suffered cardiac arrest and was being put on the waiting list for a transplant.

On Aug. 6, she was given the gift of life with a new heart, but she’s still unable to work while she recovers at home after battling complications. To help her with her expenses and ongoing medical treatments, a benefit will be held beginning at noon today in Banchetti by Rizzo’s, 550 North French Road, Getzville.

Donation is $20 and includes beverages, food and music. There also will be a cash bar. Psychics will give readings from noon to 2:30 p.m. Drawing for the basket auction will be at 4. Donation checks payable to Benefit for Paulette Welker can be mailed to Box 25, Buffalo, NY 14223. For info and to help, call John Shred at 837-4056.
