Town of Tonawanda
The Ken-Ton Chamber of Commerce and the Kenmore Merchants Association will hold a “Meet the Candidates Night” on Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Village Square Catering, 2878 Delaware Avenue.
Candidates in November’s general election from the Village of Kenmore, Town of Tonawanda and the 3rd and 4th Legislative Districts will each give a brief presentation followed by an open forum Q&A session. Complimentary light refreshments and a cash bar will be available.

• The Tonawanda-Kenmore Historical Society will present “Ghosts of Kenmore and Tonawanda” at its 100 Knoche Road museum and cemetery today from 2 p.m. until 5 during its Halloween-themed open house. Call 873-5774 for more information.
• The Town Board meets at 7:30 a.m. Monday in council chambers at the municipal building, 2919 Delaware Ave. A work session begins at 4 p.m. in the second-floor conference room.
• The Kenmore Planning Board meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the mayor’s office at the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave.
• The annual townwide neighborhood watch meeting sponsored by the town police department and Crime Resistance Executive Board begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the community room of the Philip Sheridan Building, 3200 Elmwood Ave.
• The Ken-Ton Closet, a volunteer-run organization offering free clothing to children who are Ken-Ton residents, will be open for special evening hours Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 at the Parkside Village Community Center, 169 Sheridan Parkside Drive. Volunteers are needed to help hand clothes out to kids. Donations of winter jackets, boys and girls winter clothing, and new socks, underwear and toiletries are also requested. Families are asked to park in the back of the building and enter through door 5.
• A Halloween disc golf tournament for adults will be held Saturday at Lincoln Park. Teams of four must register with the Youth, Parks & Recreation department by Monday with a $40 entry fee, which will be donated to the “Friends of Youth Foundation.” Participants must be 18 or over and dressed in costume in order to compete. The 12 hole, par 46 tournament begins at 3 p.m. with a shotgun start but teams must report to the department office to receive rules between 2 p.m. and 2:45. Discs are not provided.
• Leaf collection has begun and town officials reminded residents that raking leaves into the street is prohibited by town code. The leaves are stored and used for compost and mulch that is available free to residents at the Highway Department.
