A 15-year-old girl who apparently ran away in late January has been located and is in good health, Town of Tonawanda police reported Wednesday.

Valentina Kolock had been missing since she was dropped off at Kenmore West High School for a midterm exam on Jan. 30.

She was back in the town Wednesday morning, police said.

Police said the teen was found downstate Tuesday afternoon and it appears she ran away.

“The exact details concerning where she was located, who she was with and if criminal charges are pending are under investigation,” Capt. Joseph F. Carosi said in a statement.

Authorities at the time of her disappearance reported that they believed she might have been with a known male acquaintance.

Police became increasingly concerned after Valentina was not heard from for nearly three weeks.

Police credited widespread coverage in the press and social media for generating hundreds of tips regarding Valentina’s possible whereabouts.

“The relentless assistance of the media, including social media, was of great importance in helping us locate Valentina,” Carosi said.
