The last public meeting on the future of the Huntley coal-fired generating station in the Town of Tonawanda will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in Tonawanda City Hall, 200 Niagara St.

A recent report issued by the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis gave a dim outlook on the future of the coal plant, which employs about 70 people and provides significant tax revenue to the local Kenmore-Tonawanda School District, the Town of Tonawanda and Erie County.

About 75 people have attended the Clean Air Coalition-sponsored meetings in the past two weeks in the Town of Tonawanda, Grand Island and Riverside.
