WESTFIELD – The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will conduct tours this week of its two recently acquired Chautauqua Creek preserves:

• Chautauqua Creek Oxbow Forest Preserve on Lyons Road, Mayville – at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Jay Stratton recently donated 21 acres of forest off Lyons Road. The terrain is rugged and features “beautiful gorge habitat,” according to the conservancy.

• Chautauqua Creek East Branch, off Route 430, Mayville – 6 p.m. Friday, The land also was donated by Stratton. The tour will begin at the preserve parking area across from Redwing Road, Features include the exploration of beaver-pond habitat and a sunset hike.

Stratton is expected to lead the two tours, which are free for conservancy members and a suggested donation of $5 for non-members.
