Three people are facing drug charges after a heroin packaging operation was discovered early Friday morning in a Rounds Avenue home, Buffalo police reported.
While on patrol shortly before 2 a.m., Northeast District Officer Paul Fitzpatrick saw Heriberto Rivera, 19, flee from a vehicle westbound on Rounds, police said. Rivera was apprehended a short time later emerging from the yard at 157 Rounds, police said.
The home was searched and 1.72 ounces of heroin, a scale and packaging materials were discovered, according to police. Officers also recovered a defaced handgun loaded with one round from the backyard.
Also arrested for possessing four glassine envelopes of heroin were Nicole A. Earnshaw, 26, of Amherst, and Michael G. Irons, 28, of Grand Island.
Rivera was charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Earnshaw and Irons were each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
