The death of a man whose body was found in a Bailey Avenue apartment late Sunday morning has been ruled a homicide, Buffalo homicide detectives said Wednesday.

An autopsy revealed that James McDaniel, 57, died of blunt-force trauma, Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards said.

Firefighters called to the apartment on the 2000 block of Bailey at about 11:05 a.m. Sunday found McDaniel unresponsive.

Relatives discovered the victim in the building’s lower apartment, although he lived in an upper apartment, Richards said.
