Thurman Thomas was appointed Friday To the New York State Tourism Advisory Council, where he’s expected to serve as vice chair.
The tourism council advises Gov. Andrew Cuomo on the state’s tourism efforts, and typically includes representatives from tourism-related industries such as travel and vacation businesses, convention bureaus and cultural institutions. The appointment is a two-year, unpaid position for the Hall of Fame running back.
“I am honored that Governor Cuomo has appointed me to the Tourism Advisory Council. I know how important it is to the governor that Buffalo and Western New York receive the proper representation and promotion. I look forward to making that happen,” Thomas said in a statement.
