District attorney’s offices and police agencies in Erie and Niagara counties will receive nearly half a million dollars in state grants to fight motor vehicle theft and insurance fraud, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced Wednesday. In all, 29 agencies across the state will get nearly $4 million.
Largest grant locally will go to the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office, which will get $152,100. The Erie County district attorney has been awarded 120,700. Awards to police agencies include Buffalo, $121,000; Cheektowaga, $48,000; Niagara Falls, $36,500; and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, $21,500.
