Police have responded to the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ont., after receiving a call this afternoon from a man who claimed to be armed and was headed there.
The casino said on its Twitter account it was notified by Niagara Regional Police that a dispatcher received a call “requiring their attendance at the casino.”
Constable Derek Watson of the Niagara Regional Police said officers have been stationed at the entrances as a precaution and the rotunda area has been evacuated.
The casino remains open and was not placed under lockdown, contrary to an earlier report.
Watson said officers do not know whether it was a hoax. .
The call came in at about 1:14 p.m.
