Marilla is gearing up for a town-wide holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.
It’s billed as a Tree Lighting Ceremony but there will be all sorts of Christmas-themed merriment at spots throughout Marilla.
At the Pavilion at Bullis and Bowen roads, Santa will arrive at 5 p.m. followed by the lighting of the tree, free hay rides, hot chocolate and hot dogs. Bring a camera for a photo op with Santa.
At the Community Center, children can write a letter to Santa, and view puppet shows at 6 and 7 p.m. There will be a Historical Society Booth open also.
At the Highway Garage bring the kids to see the live reindeer, warm up by the bon fire and enjoy free hot cider and s’mores. A chili cook off will follow at 4:30 p.m. Free ornaments will be given out and all are welcome to throw snow balls at the “Grinch”.
At the Fire Hall there will be on going cookie-decorating, sponsored by the Williston United Methodist Church, and free pie slices, coffee or tea for adults.

• A meeting of the Boston Town Board begins at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the board room at Boston Town Hall, 8500 Boston State Road.
• The Elma Town Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Elma Town Hall, 1600 Bowen Road.
• The Elma Town Tree Lighting Ceremony and visit with Santa will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Historical Society Museum, 3011 Bowen Road. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to visit with children. Christmas caroling, photos with Santa, hot chocolate and cookies will be available. A pet parade will be held prior to the tree lighting at 2 p.m.
• The Town of Wales Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday in front of the Community Center, 12345 Big Tree Road. Christmas activities for children will be held inside the Community Center. Refreshments following the ceremony.
