LE ROY – After a two-week wait, Michael T. Welsh has won a town justice seat by the narrowest of margins: one vote.

Welsh trailed Republican Scott McCumiskey by three votes on Election Night but later took an 817 to 816 lead when absentee ballots were counted.

The Genesee County Board of Elections certified the results Monday after the deadline for military ballots. None was received.

Welsh, a Democrat, served for 20 years on the County Legislature, representing the village and town of Le Roy.
