An electronic message board will soon inform residents about events in the Eden Central School District.

Superintendent Sandy Anzalone announced during the Board of Education meeting Wednesday night that a message board will be installed in front of Eden Elementary School today.

The $17,000 message board will not have flashing or scrolling words, she added during the meeting in the junior-senior high school’s cafeteria.

On another topic, she said the district received more than 150 responses to a survey on the district’s website about the emergency drill conducted May 28.

“We are going to continue these drills,” she said.

Officials also recognized the seniors with the three highest grade averages: Laura Harms, the valedictorian; Andrew Feldman, the salutatorian; and Andrew Pszonak.

Board members also heard from Marisa Fallacaro, athletic director and softball coach, about the softball team’s state championship. The Buffalo Bisons have invited the team to throw the ceremonial first pitch before the game at 1:05 p.m. next Thursday 26 against the Columbus Clippers.

Teams in the district have won 12 state championships.
