FORT ERIE, Ont. – Fire caused an estimated $1 million damage on Friday to a historic building that housed a bar, restaurant and several small apartments, authorities reported.

Flames erupted around 10 a.m. in the building at 33 Princess St., said Chief Larry Coplen of the Fort Erie Fire Department. He said there were no injuries.

The building – parts of which date back to the 1800s – is currently known as Long Shotz Bar & Grill, Coplen said.

The fire started in a common kitchen area that is used by residents of the apartments, the chief said. He said investigators have not yet determined the cause.

About 10 people who live in the apartments escaped unharmed.
