Today’s meeting scheduled to consider the sale of the Chautauqua County Home has been canceled.
Chautauqua County Attorney Stephen Abdella announced Tuesday that the special meeting, which had been scheduled for 6:30 p.m., was called off because the prospective buyer did not provide a security deposit for the proposed sale.
County Legislature Chairman Jay Gould approved the cancellation on the recommendation of County Executive Gregory Edwards, who said that Richard Platschek failed to make the required purchase deposit of $1.65 million.
Abdella said the county executive will continue efforts to find a buyer. The sale of the home for $16 million was the lone item on the agenda for the meeting.
