A South Buffalo man was charged Thursday night with second-degree murder for fatally injuring another man last month when he shoved him off a second-story porch on Kenefick Avenue, authorities said.
Nicholas Finnegan, 26, is accused of pushing Russ A. Ross, 28, off the porch in the early hours of Nov. 8, but the Buffalo man survived until Nov. 20 when he died at Erie County Medical Center, according to Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards.
The case was ruled a homicide Thursday by the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Officer. Detectives then picked up Finnegan and brought him in for questioning before charging him in the killing.
South District Detective Sgt. John McGrath initiated the investigation and later turned it over to Homicide Detectives Christopher Sterlace, Salvatore Valvo and David Rambino when Ross succumbed to his injuries.
Finnegan was arraigned Friday morning in City Court and is being held without bail at the Erie County Holding Center.
