OLEAN – Olean’s Washington West Elementary School will be getting a new heating, ventilating and air conditioning system.

In the recent budget vote, district officials were given permission to spend $100,000 on a capital project at the school, which serves about 500 students from pre-kindergarten through third grade.

The spending plan will mean the replacement of 24 HVAC units on the roof of the building, according to Superintendent Dr. Colleen Taggerty. No date for the work has been set. Environmental statements must be completed and sent to the state.
