While some districts have struggled with falling enrollments, the student population of the Maryvale School District has increased by 22 children, according to a report given at Monday’s Board of Education meeting.
Superintendent Deborah Ziolkowski said the district’s enrollment unexpectedly increased this year beyond projections. Last year’s enrollment stood at 2,189 total students. The 2013-14 school year currently has 2,211 students. She attributes the increase to families moving into Maryvale for affordable housing and good schools.
“We know Maryvale is a great place to be,” she said.
