An injured high school football player remained in the pediatric intensive care unit Sunday afternoon at Women & Children’s Hospital after suffering a serious injury from a helmet-to-helmet hit during a game this weekend in Cattaraugus County.
Damon W. Janes, 16, a junior on the Westfield/Brocton varsity football team, is in critical condition, the hospital said in a statement.
“His parents and family request that their privacy be respected as they fight and pray for him at this time,” according to the statement.
Damon, 16, a running back, was injured during Friday’s away game against Portville.
He reportedly lost consciousness shortly after a helmet-to-helmet hit during a play in the third quarter.
