A man convicted of robbing banks in Kenmore and Falconer and four others across upstate was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to 13 years in prison.

Robert Stevenson, 59, of Rochester, admitted robbing the First Niagara Bank at 2853 Delaware Ave. on June 11, 2012 and the Northwest Savings Bank at 210 W. Main Street in Falconer on Nov. 5, 2012.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Catherine Baumgarten said Stevenson also admitted robbing banks in Irondequoit, Syracuse, Utica and New Hartford.

Fonda Dawn Kubiak, an assistant federal public defender, asked Arcara for leniency, citing Stevenson’s 42-year addiction to heroin. His sentencing is the result of an investigation by the FBI and the Kenmore Police.
