TWIN LIGHTS – Tours of the two lighthouses that once guided lake sailors to the entrance to the Welland Canal in Port Colborne, Ont. – the 1903 inner range lighthouse and the 1928 outer range lighthouse – will be among the many attractions at the 35th annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival, which begins Friday and continues through next Monday.

The Save Our Lighthouses group will offer daily tours by boat from Sugarloaf Harbor Marina between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tours also can be arranged by reservation through Sept. 3. For info, call Erno Rossi at (905) 835-8051.

THE BEST MEDICINE – On permanent disability from his job at Northtown Automotive due to heart problems is Gerald Galuszka, of West Seneca, who received a heart pump nearly a year ago and now is awaiting a heart transplant.

To help cover his medical expenses, an evening of comedy will be staged for him Saturday evening in Rob’s Comedy Playhouse, 1340 N. Forest Road, Amherst. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8:30. CHRISTMAS IN JULY – The latest Santa Claus Lane holiday ornament is now available, the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce reports. The 15th in a series created by artist Kathleen McDonald, it depicts Olean’s historic movie house, the Palace Theater, which was razed in 1998.

The ornament is $20 and is available at the Chamber office, 120 N. Union St., and at Seasons in the Olean Center Mall. Ornaments also can be ordered by mail. Call the Chamber at 372-4433 or email santa@oleanny.com. Ten of the previous ornaments also are available at the Chamber office. Proceeds support the city’s annual display of holiday lights.
