Former Buffalo Sabre Thomas Vanek reportedly is a witness in a gambling investigation centered on a restaurant and bar in suburban Rochester.

Vanek visited a federal court building in Rochester on Monday morning. The television station reported that Vanek is connected to a probe of the Marina Restaurant and Bar in Charlotte.
Vanek, who recently signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Wild after playing last season with the Sabres, New York Islanders and Montreal Canadiens, declined comment as he exited the court building but issued a statement through agent Steve Bartlett.
“Representatives of the U.S. Federal Government have asked for my cooperation in an investigation,” the statement read. “I am not the subject of any investigation of prosecution. I will fully cooperate with the U.S. Federal authorities in their investigation or in any proceedings arising out of it.”
