Three people were taken to local hospitals after two separate crashes Saturday in Niagara County – one in Wilson and the other in Youngstown.

Details were still sketchy Saturday evening, but the first incident occurred just before 5 p.m., when two vehicles crashed at Ide and Maple roads, according to Niagara County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary May. Investigators believe the glare of the sun was a contributing factor.

One of the driver’s was airlifted to Erie County Medical Center and the other was transported to the hospital in Newfane. The injuries were not life-threatening, May said.

The second crash happened about 6:45 p.m. on Balmer Road in Youngstown, when a motorcyclist struck a deer, May said. The motorcyclist was airlifted to ECMC, as well, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.
