After a five-mile chase with police, a Silver Lake teenager was arrested early Saturday morning for stealing a car, the Arcade Police Department reported.
The vehicle sped away when police tried to stop it at 12:57 a.m. for a traffic infraction, and the chase did not end until the driver lost control of the vehicle on Creek Road in the Cattaraugus County town of Yorkshire, officials said.
The car rolled down a slop and struck a house, damaging both the vehicle and the house.
The occupants jumped out and fled on foot into a wooded area, authorities said.
During the search, police discovered the car had been recently stolen in the Village of Arcade.
Police said they found one of the occupants, the 17-year-old suspect, hiding in a boat next to a house. The teenager was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He is being held at Wyoming County jail under $5,000 bail.
More arrests are pending, police said.
