Deceased New York State Trooper Kevin P. Dobson, killed by a motorist during a March 2011 traffic stop on Youngmann Memorial Highway in the Town of Tonawanda, lives on through his decision in life to donate his tissue and organs.
A plaque commemorating his donation was set to be presented at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Clarence Town Hall to State Police officials. And to further honor Dobson, his father, Richard Dobson, will be attending the New Year’s Day Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, Ca., where a “floragraph” portrait of Dobson, made of dried flowers, seeds, spices and other organic material, will be on display.
Officials with CryoLife, a cardiovascular tissue processing bank, will be making this morning’s presentation.
In all, Dobson’s gift of life benefited 70 people. CryoLife chose his story to highlight from dozens of other stories nationwide.
