Fitzgerald A. Hudson, the fraudulent doctor sentenced to two years in federal prison this week, was sentenced to a year in state prison Thursday in a separate case in Allegany County.

As part of the prosecution by the state attorney general’s Medicaid Fraud Control unit, Hudson also agreed to pay a $300,000 settlement for illegally billing Medicaid for services.

Hudson, a Michigan resident, lied on his application to medical school and later on his request for a license in New York State. He practiced in a Wellsville hospital and is the subject of a wrongful death suit regarding the death of a 5-year-old boy.
