Two Detroit residents were arrested early Friday on Elm Street in a car packed with a large shipment of Ecstasy tablets and cocaine, the Erie County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit said.
Eugene Robinson, 40, of Rutherford Street, and Shawna Gill, 34. of Whitcomb Street, are being held on felony drug possession and marijuana violation charges. The county officers werre backed up by Buffalo police narcotics units and NFTA police officers.
Senior Detective Alan Rozansky, head of the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, said State Supreme Court Justice Timothy J. Drury issued a search warrant for the car, which was stopped on Elm about 12:25 a.m. The drugs had an estimated street value of $15,000, he added.
The arrests came after a monthlong investigation. Authorities said Robinson, who was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in Detroit, is a major supplier of Ecstasy and cocaine in Western New York. Both suspects have been remanded to the Erie County Holding Center pending further court and grand jury action, Rozansky said.
