BARKER – A 700-pound, purebred pig with a history of escaping and mischief in the area of Carmen and Coleman roads was found dead in its pasture Saturday, and the pig’s owner believes the animal was poisoned.

Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies said the free-roaming pig, about 4 years old, has prompted several neighbor complaints. The pig last sought freedom Friday night but was returned safely to pasture.

A veterinarian was summoned to determine the cause of death, authorities said.
