Northeast District Buffalo Police Officer Ronald Ammerman suffered non-life threatening injuries about 8:30 a.m. Monday when his patrol car was T-boned by another car as he was responding to a 911 call on Bailey Avenue, authorities said.

Police accident investigators said the officer’s car was struck by a 2004 Mercedes Benz, which was making a left turn from LaSalle Avenue onto Bailey and failed to yield the right of way and struck the patrol vehicle. Ammerman was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Rural Metro ambulance and was being evaluated in the emergency room.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz, identified only as a 52-year-old Buffalo man, did not suffer any injuries. Accident Investigator Martin Forero said charges against the driver are pending.
