WILSON – A Beebe Road woman said she was bit on her right arm by her neighbor’s dog just before 3 p.m. Monday.

Catherine A. Ellis, 63, said she was talking with her neighbor in their backyard when the dog attacked her. The dog owner, Jason B. Gould, 44, had a dog on a leash at the time, but told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that he was unable to keep a grip on the leash.

Gould told deputies that this is the first time his dog had ever bit someone. He was unable to locate the proof of rabies shot, but said it was about two years ago at the free clinic at the Niagara County Fairgrounds.

Ellis was taken to a hospital where she said she needed 57 stitches to close the wound. Ellis said the dog attacked for no reason.

The 90-pound dog, which is a mix of breeds, was found unsecured several hours later on the Gould property and the dog warden was notified to remove the dog.
