NEWFANE – The sign at the First Baptist Church, 6047 East Avenue, was reported damaged sometime over the weekend, according to Niagara County sheriff’s deputies.

The church’s chairman of the board Bruce Aiken told deputies Sunday that someone damaged the sign in front of the church between 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

According to deputies the sign was intentionally struck with enough force to cause damage to both sides of the sign.

The original cost of the sign was $1,500, but the repair estimate was unknown at the time of the report, deputies said.
