Two New York State troopers sustained non life-threatening injuries late Monday night during separate alcohol and drug-related traffic stops.
The first incident occurred just after 10 p.m. on the I-190 southbound near the entrance to the Skyway in Buffalo when a trooper was in the process of arresting a motorist for driving while intoxicated. In that incident, the suspect began fighting with the trooper, authorities said.
The second incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. on Route 219 in West Seneca as a trooper was arresting an individual for driving under the influence of drugs. In that incident, the suspect’s vehicle hit the trooper’s vehicle, which was parked along the 219 near Ridge Road.
State Thruway police said both troopers were taken to area hospitals. Their names and conditions were withheld, but their injuries were not considered life threatening, authorities said.
