NIAGARA FALLS – Two new shootings – one with an injury – occurred early Thursday, Niagara Falls police said.
An 18 year-old Niagara Falls man was shot just after 1 a.m. as he left a house in the 1900 block of Welch Avenue, police said. The victim, police added, heard three gunshots and ran, and realized he was injured when he noticed blood dripping from his hand. The bullet grazed an index finger and he was treated in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, police added. The victim, police said, was uncooperative and provided little information to police.
In the other case, an employee helping a customer at the Valero gas station, 1911 Ferry Ave., shortly after 2 a.m. heard a shot ring out and glass breaking. A hole was found in the business window, police said.
Police said a customer who believed he was the target had broken up a fight in the parking lot minutes before the gunfire. Damage to the window was estimated at $2,500.
The latest shootings come on the heels of shootings with injuries earlier in the week. A teen was shot in the chest and seriously injured on the Eagle Heights basketball court Monday evening. Also, a man was shot in the leg early Tuesday morning on Rhode Island Avenue.
