LOCKPORT – Doors were smashed to gain entry, a cabinet was ransacked and dozens of phones were stolen in a weekend break-in at the Wireless Zone store on South Transit Road.
Niagara County sheriff’s deputies and New York State Police responded to an alarm just before 7 a.m. Sunday at the store at 5883 South Transit Road and found the front doors of the business had been smashed.
Inside the store a manager told police and deputies that 36 phones, identified as various iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones with a combined value of $21,000, were stolen. Damage was listed at $875.
Security video handed over to investigators showed two apparent males, dressed in white hooded sweatshirts, jeans and sneakers, with black bandanas on their faces and wearing gloves, enter the store and go into a rear storage area. The suspects are assumed to have exited through a rear door, setting off the alarm. The video was turned over to investigators and a manager was in the process of deactivating all of the stolen phones, according to sheriff’s deputies.
