RANSOMVILLE – A 23-year-old clerk at Crosby’s, a convenience store on Youngstown-Lockport Road, was accused of theft of store funds on Monday.

Anthony Spillman, of Dorwood Park was charged by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies with petit larceny after a store manager reviewed store security and said she observed Spillman entering more than $100 worth of fraudulent bottle refunds. No one else was in the store, she said.

The manager said the investigation was prompted when she noticed a large amount of refunds on one register between 3:27 and 7:19 p.m. on Saturday.

Spillman admitted taking the money and offered to pay back the money. He said his family was going through hard times.
