A report of reckless driving and a vehicle hitting guard rails on Grand Island resulted in the arrest of a 49-year-old woman on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated, according to Erie County sheriff’s deputies.
Deputies responding to the report, at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, found the vehicle on Staley Road and reported that the driver, Coleen Duncan of North Tonawanda, was intoxicated.
Duncan was taken to the sheriff office’s substation on the island, where she refused to submit to a chemical breath test. The felony charge stemmed from a prior conviction in 2007, deputies said, and Duncan also was charged with other, unspecified vehicle and traffic law violations.
She was remanded to the county Holding Center on an undisclosed amount of bail, pending arraignment in Grand Island Town Court.
