Buffalo Police tonight identified the city’s latest fatal shooting victim as Samuel L. Smalls, 22, of Buffalo.
Smalls was shot near Shirley Avenue and Suffolk Street shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, police said. He died later in the Erie County Medical Center.
Smalls was with two other men when a gunman approached them and began firing, Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richards said. Smalls died shortly after his arrival at the hospital.
The shooter was identified as a black male, about 5-foot-8, who wore a black hooded sweatshirt.
Homicide police sought help from the public in trying to obtain leads in the fatal shooting. They asked that anyone with information call or text the Buffalo Police confidential TIP-CALL Line at 847-2255.
