Police said a Snyder resident charged with DWI after his car was seen veering over the double yellow center line on Elmwood Avenue Saturday night had a glass of liquor in the cup holder of his center console when he was stopped.
Police first spotted the car driven by Daniel R. Schuetze, 29, of Westmoreland Road at the corner of Elmwood and Delevan Avenue just after 10 p.m. Police said the car crossed the center line as it traveled north on Elmwood. When he pulled over in a restaurant parking lot in the 900 block of Elmwood and exited the vehicle, police spotted the glass of liquor in the cup holder and noticed that his eyes were glassy.
Schuetze failed three field sobriety tests, then registered a 0.21 blood alcohol level on a breath test.
Schuetze was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a charge filed when the driver’s blood alcohol level is over 0.18; consumption of alcohol in a vehicle; and driving left of pavement markings.
