NIAGARA FALLS – Large equipment, copper and steel pipes, and office equipment were stolen from a commercial property in the 700 block of Ninth Street, according to police on Sunday.
The California owner of the property told police that someone damaged a Pine Avenue door to gain entry to the vacant property and once inside cut the plumbing and stole $20,000 worth of copper and steel materials. The damaged pipes also flooded the basement, causing an undetermined amount of damage.
The suspects also stripped heaters and machines for copper and other metal parts and took two electrical forklifts, valued at $20,000 each and a gas-powered forklift, valued at $30,000; as well as two desks, eight metal file cabinets and $200 in cash.
The value of the stolen property is estimated at $97,200 and the damage was estimated at $11,000, according to police. Crime Scene investigators responded to the property and an investigation is continuing.
