NEWFANE – A 39-year-old Newfane man told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that someone has been stealing his identity for the last four years, opening up a business and credit card in his name.

The victim told deputies Wednesday that the business was opened up using his former Barker address and he learned of the theft when he received a collection notice from Global Payments Department. He said the purchase in question was a $115 charge at a Lockport tattoo shop.

The victim said some of his mail may still be going to his old address and he went to the Barker Post Office to change his address.

The case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
